I know the title sounds a little absurd but read on for an explanation.
I was attending the recently concluded Fire Conference 2013 (more on that later), when God spoke to me about Rutherford's classic Scattering experiment. Yes ! you read this right. The Lord gave me a a briefing on some wonderful biblical concepts behind the experiment which I want to share with you.
Here's a brief sketch of what Rutherford came up with:
To sum it up:
He placed a source of alpha particles in a lead box which could emit alpha radiation through a collimator. This radiation was made to fall on a gold (Au) foil placed in front of a target. Whenever the ray hit a nucleus on the foil it was deflected but when it traveled through the space between it, it hit its target.
Now wait a minute ! How does all this fit in as an analogy to a biblical concept ? Well, here's how.
Remember the incident from Matthew 19:16-30 ? If not, I recommend that you click on the link and read it. Let's compare the two here.
The Lead block: Lead is said to be the most stable element in the entire periodic table. Let's assign it the role of God for the moment (the cornerstone, the anchor, etc.).
The alpha particles/rays: Consider that as God's blessing, anointing, spirit, etc.
The Gold foil: Gold, a precious metal. We'll take it for what it is; wealth or riches.
Finally the target: That'd be you and me.
You see, the hindrance between you and God is always directly proportional to the attachment you have to wealth. Now that does not mean you should not earn money or that God wants you to be poor. No, God wants His children to be prosperous too. We find so many examples of men of God who were very wealthy. Daniel and Joseph are two such examples.
Finally, don't forget, when The king of kings, the righteous judge and our saviour Lord Jesus comes back, you won't be able to climb to the clouds with that heavy load of wealth and will remain back to go through the tribulation that is to come. Ecc. 5:10 says, "Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless."
I urge you strongly to let go of all attachments of wealth and material wants and follow Christ. Because in Matthew 16:24 Jesus said, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.". At the same time don't worry because He promised in Matthew 6:33, "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
God Bless You.
